Thank You

To all those who came along. I really enjoyed your company, your creativity and all the tips and tricks we learned from each other.

Thank you Nik, Delys, Lynley and Julie for the Card making on Friday evening.

Thank you Mum, Sharon and Lynley for the workshops on Saturday - I loved seeing what everyone created and seeing the smiles when people recognised the effect that colours can have on your presence.

Thank you Jase for your wonderful food provisions yet again. Love you :-)

Huge Thank You to Andrea from Scrapbook Outlet New Zealand for bringing up your shop and supplying us with fantastic goodie bags and prizes (even if some of them arrived a little after the prize giving). Thanks also to Up2Scrap for previous issues of Up2Scrap Magazine and to Making Memories for the 8 x 8 pads, paints and embellishments!

Thank you everyone for a productive, creative and highly enjoyable weekend!

The workshops!

You can finally download the registration form for the workshops via the link on the right hand side of this blog! You will also see that the day registrations are now also accessible.

If we put enough pressure on all our Stampin Up Demonstrators...do you think they'd do a combined 'stamp a stack' with us?

Anyway, I think all the info is there...Let me know if I haven't included some vital information on the forms. There will be a 10% of the total cost added to overnight registrations from Friday 25th of September, up till this time people can still register. Both day registrations and workshop registrations close on Friday 30th of October. Full payments must be received by this date also.

Getting Organised

with Lynley!
Well not organising you, but organising your cards!
You will get to choose from a range of Stampin Up papers to create a handy organiser! You will use a Bind it All, play with paper folding and stamping. You will finish with either something very useful for yourself or for a gift and you will know how to repeat this with other papers too so you can cross even more names off that list! Cost is approximately $25.

Smiles.

Not Tinsel

but spoolie angels & candycane holders!
I received this from Nik about her workshops at the retreat:
I will be bringing you 2 classes in one at the retreat, creating 2 super cute tree decorations for your own tree or someone elses. there will be some basic sewing skills required, and you will have no fear of a hot glue gun! this will be a chance for you to take a break from your Christmas cards to create something special for your tree trimming. Workshop will cost $20.. all supplies supplied! :0)

Promotions Competition

There is now one month left till registrations close for the Spring Retreat.

In this competition there will be a couple of ways to earn your name in the draw!

  1. 3 entries - refer a friend who registers (if you have already registered and were referred by someone else coming flick me their name so I can credit them entries) This only applies to people who have been to a Queenstown Retreat before.
  2. 2 entries - make a post on your blog or forums you are a part of about the retreat with a link to the blog or forum thread - leave the link to where you did this in the comments section of this post. This part is open to anyone - whether you are coming or not! If you would like to put up some information at any schools or similar community places I have a document I can email you. By putting these up (grab a photo if you can and email it to me) you can earn the 2 entries also.
  3. 1 entry - for being referred by a friend that you nominated in the first way to earn names in the draw.
The draw will take place after registrations close :-)

Depending on registrations in August, I may be able to accept late registrations but there will be an increased cost of the total weekend for late registrations and will be on the provision that we can source extra beds and tables for creating on - each person will have half of a large trestle table for their creative space over the weekend.

Classes comments winner

is Kim.

If you have further class suggestions I'd still love to hear them.

Smiles,
Lara

Colours

Colours.
When creating our pages, projects or cards colour plays an important part in the process and the finished product. It's the same for the colours you choose for your wardrobe and to wear. I recently had my 'colours done' by a colour consultant with Colours in Harmony. I was also guided through make up choices to suit my colourings. Really confidence boosting and a huge help when shopping for clothes. I took away with me a 'swatch' of the colours that suit my skin tones that will help with making good choices when shopping. When going through the colours the consultant also identified the colours in my swatch that really make ME stand out.

One of the optional workshops over the weekend will be for a one on one session with a colour consultant (minimum of 2 peole required for this to go ahead). With your full payment you will receive a $40 voucher for use to get the $189.00 cost for this reduced to just $149! It may seem expensive, but the confidence in what you wear and the savings you will experience when shopping for clothes or make up (simplified by the swatch that you take away with you) make it worthwhile in the long run!

Workshop details will be released mid-late July.

Remember the prize draws in previous posts! Sorry Kim & Julie...there are a few people now in the draw for the early bird...but only 2 comments on workshops so far...the odds for this draw are looking good!

Colourful Smiles,
Lara

Getting to Queenstown

I found flights $109 From Auckland and $59 From Christuchurch each way on jetstar...

Or try to see what you can find on Air NZ

We will do whatever we can to assist with arrivals and departures...please let me know your itinerary. Or you can check out the different transport options from the airport yourself by clicking HERE.

Another option could be to rent a car if you want to see even more of the Wakatipu (you might even want to book an extra night or two ...)

We will be staying at Lakeland Park.

Workshops!

Queenstown Scrap Retreat 2008
(added a picture because all the interesting posts have photos right?)

Spring Retreat will be in November - getting to the end of Spring..but just sliding into that silly season...this retreat is a good opportunity to get a start or finish on the cards and gifts you want to make in time whether it be gifts for colleagues, teachers, coaches, family...

I have approached some experienced tutors who have agreed to run optional workshops at different times over the weekend. What I want from you are ideas regarding the type of workshops you would prefer to attend if any. Please vote in the micropoll on the right side of the blog. You can select more than one.

To encourage some feedback on workshop preferences...there will be a RAK sent based on a random draw for any relevant comments made following this post. CLOSED.

Workshops will be held in a comfortable space away from the main crop room, will cost extra and will provide you with techniques and ideas that can be used for many future creative endeavours - if not to create more of the same for further gifts or cards.
There will be minimum numbers required for any workshop to go ahead as well as maximum numbers also.

I look forward to reviewing your responses.
You have untill July 31st.

Make sure you check back here to find out the winner of the random draw!

You can access the registration form by clicking on the link below:

Queenstown Retreat Spring '09' Registration form

A creative retreat from your ‘everyday’ so you can begin to cross off some of your gift and card lists, learn some new tricks, make a gift or two, create cards, scrap some pages and enjoy the company of other creative types, not to mention the delicious food that previous retreat goers have begun to expect!

goodies

I've been playing with my ever growing box of goodies and prizes for the retreat and thought I'd share some of them...

I'm hoping to pop into Andrea's tomorrow...so the goodies box may grow even bigger in a short space of time!

No one has correctly guessed the answer for the comp in the last post...so feel free to keep guessing!

In two weeks time we will be creating.

Remember to bring some baking/snacks and your towels (that means you too Andrea!). A few still to pay the balance of the retreat fees (due on Friday 19th June).

The chef has an appointment on Monday - hope he can walk in time for the retreat! Bit tricky cooking on crutches.

Have kept our booking for the dining hall...scrapping by the open fire rocks!

Dinner on Sat night is looking a little special so to feel even more special...you might want to dress up a little for it.

Andy specific product requests for sale in the 'shop' over the weekend- flick an email to Andrea info@scrapbookoutletnz.co.nz at this stage Andrea is arriving on the Friday - if you will need something before then....let her know ASAP and she might be able to send it through or I could even bring it back on Monday.

Smiles.

been busy

organising some inspiration, challenges, giveaways...

There is another bigger group using the camp so am now re-thinking our spaces and furniture arrangements!
Thankfully the 'common' spaces in the chalet's are a good size, a few trestle tables and it's all go.
We do still have the use of the dining room (with the open fire)...but the rest of the main block will be used by another group so depends on how everyone feels security wise? Let me know your thoughts.
No drama's, all sweet - there are only 13 of us so it's all good. Nice relaxed group :-)
For those who are registered, you should have got an email last night. Check your spam boxes if you haven't received it. And if it's not there flick me an email.

Got a box from Andrea today...something deliciously scrapbooky in it...first one to guess what was in the pizza box get's a RAK at the retreat! Leave a post with your guess. This is only open to registered retreaters sorry.

Tutorial

Have you tried digital scrapbooking?
Are you interested in trying it?
I am thinking of setting aside some time at the retreat to support anyone keen to give it a go...however I have only used 'gimp' which is a free software that works a bit like Photoshop.
If you are keen, let me know and I can send some things you will need to download.
You will need to bring your own laptop with the downloads saved to it already and some photos in your computer ready to 'scrap' pixel style.
This will be a super simple beginners style tutorial, any involvement from anyone who has more experience is welcome!

Smiles.

P.S. There is no extra cost for this tutorial!

Colour Me Beautiful

I spoke with a Colour Me Beautiful Consultant last week who indicated that she is avaliable (if there is interest) in coming to the retreat and 'doing our colours' professionally.

They have the catch phrase - "We take the guesswork out of looking great".

Email me for details if you are interested in this option at some stage over the weekend and I can give you the cost information etc.

The colours session involves finding the colours that make you stand out - not the clothes you wear - you.

The consultants are trained to international standards and provide a premium imaging service and seasonalised makeup advice.

Thanks to those who have their registration info and deposits to me already!

Lakeland Park, where we will be staying and creating is on the Kelvin Heights peninsula and has views of the Remarkables and Ben Lomond, if you get tired of creating with paper or pixels you can take your camera and legs off for a work out along the lakeside track just minutes away.

The above is just part of the view out the dining hall and creative room.

and wandering around camp you might see this....
